WINGS exists to provide women and children in need the opportunity to gain strength and to live according to their true worth.
WINGS (Women in Need Gaining Strength)…
is an independent non-profit charitable society established in the summer of 1997 (# 87104 0168 RR0001). The society was simply born of a common vision by ordinary people to demonstrate responsibility toward the issues of social justice in our society today, specifically in the area of violence against women and children. The realization of the extent of domestic violence in our society today propelled us to focus our efforts here.
Over these years we have seen firsthand the devastating impact of abuse that permeates many relationships. Whether the bruises are visible on their faces or reflected in their eyes, abused women and children are some of the most vulnerable people in our society today. Our goal is to help break this vicious cycle of violence and support women and children to choose to live free from abuse. It has been an awesome privilege to serve in this field.
I could have never done this crisis without the support and help of the staff.
Our mission statement is…
To provide women and children in need the opportunity to gain strength and to live according to their true worth.
Our purpose is…
- to demonstrate love and compassion for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence by providing safe, warm, friendly, caring environments through housing and support services.
- to enable clients to work through various stages of well-being from crisis to long-term stability by providing a full range of support services.
- to provide education and promote awareness for the elimination of violence against women and children by providing programs, educational opportunities, and resources.
We want to make a significant positive impact in the lives of women and children by giving them, within the context of a safe and supportive environment, the opportunity to hear about and understand their unique value and worth and begin to experience the potential this can mean in their lives.
